Fighting For Us

  • Taxing massive corporations and the ultra-wealthy to pay for the services we all rely on.

In the State Senate, Rebecca has led the fight to fix our upside down tax code and ensure working Washingtonians are not footing the bill, while wealthy corporations get tax cuts at the federal level. She co-sponsored the tax on capital gains which funds childcare across Washington and is working alongside Representative Shaun Scott to pass legislation that makes massive corporations pay to avoid steep cuts in essential services.

  • Standing up to special interests and fighting for working families.

In the State Senate, Rebecca fought for and won Paid Family and Medical Leave, Unemployment Insurance for striking workers, and cash assistance for working families. She is working to pass a $25 minimum wage for all Washingtonians and the Domestic Workers Bill of Rights to provide minimum wage, overtime pay, guaranteed breaks, and safe working conditions for housekeepers, nannies, gardeners and more.

  • Protecting Our Environment and Our Health

In the State Senate, Rebecca has helped pass landmark environmental legislation including the Climate Commitment Act, Healthy Washington for All Act, Washington Clean Fuel Standard and Move Ahead WA, investing in more transit options across our region. She did this by centering environmental justice and tribal sovereignty.  Strengthening our commitment to government consultation results in better outcomes for land management and social services for all Washingtonians. She won’t rest until every child and family is free of harmful environmental impacts and our public transportation system is fast, reliable, and free for everyone.

  • Defending Our Democracy and Our Rights from Trump’s Attacks

In the face of the Supreme Court gutting the federal Voting Rights Act, Rebecca stood up and fought for Washingtonians' right to make their voices heard. She introduced Washington's own Voting Rights Act, which removed barriers and expanded access to our democracy for historically marginalized and underrepresented communities. Now, with even greater uncertainty at the federal level, Rebecca is fighting to ensure King County serves as a shield to protect our immigrant neighbors, our workers, our families, and our shared values from federal attacks.
